A commitment to responsibility in the chemical industry

Responsible Care® is the chemical industry’s global voluntary initiative that drives for continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental (HSE) performance, together with open and transparent communication amongst stakeholders.

Borealis, a signatory of the Responsible Care® Global Charter, is committed to implementing the Responsible Care® guidelines. The company has established a Responsible Care® policy including guiding principles for group-wide implementation. All Borealis employees are expected to apply these principles in their daily work life and internal audits are carried out on a regular basis to ensure effective implementation.

Borealis commitment, based on the Responsible Care® initiative:

  • We believe world class health, safety, environmental and energy performance is a foundation for leadership in Responsible Care.
  • We are committed to follow legal requirements and other requirements to which we subscribe, or exceed them when they do not meet our standards.
  • We are committed to advance sustainable development along the value chain and to give priority to innovative, value creating solutions according to the principles of Product Stewardship.
  • We have a Responsible Care management system based on continuous improvement and verification of our performance.
  • We openly discuss Responsible Care issues with our stakeholders with the aim to further promote health, safety and the environment and to save energy along the value chain.
